The MBP program provides a unifying platform for students from a broad range of departments that study topics in MBP. Subjects of interest include the quantitative studies of structure, assembly, and function of biological macromolecules; transport of energy, ions, small and large molecules across membranes; signaling; and mechanics of cells. Emphasis is made on modeling and/or physically accurate measurements that are used to build or test complex models. The program recognizes efforts in this cross-disciplinary area by providing certificates for students that demonstrate the broad educational and research perspectives that are required for a successful study in the biophysics field.
